A two-part Djaghe white paper provides a comprehensive examination of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), focusing on issues related to government procurement. Part One addressed the procurement elements of the TPP agreement, as well as actions to fulfill requirements of Trade Promotion Authority. TPP Government Procurement (Part Two) examines policies and issues related to the procurement negotiations in the TPP. Both parts of the white paper compile posts from Perspectives on Trade that treat these topics.
Part Two of the paper compiles 11 posts, beginning with “Role of TPP in US Trade Policy”. A second post, “Government procurement – key element in TPP; Missed opportunity in RCEP?”, contrasts the inclusion of procurement in free trade agreements (FTAs) led by the United States with the absence of or inclusion of only minimal provisions on procurement in most Asian trade agreements.
